Job Description - IH Belfast Academic & Business Development Manager

International House Belfast has created a new and dynamic role combining our past Academic Manager and Business Development roles. The successful candidate will help turn our academic excellence into sales and develop business contacts and contracts. The successful candidate will have a strong EFL Academic background along with an in depth knowledge of how the EFL market works, experience in dealing in international markets, experience in dealing with agents, groups and group leaders and have a strong knowledge of current trends in EFL development.

Requirements and qualifications:

DELTA qualified

Cambridge CELTA Teacher Trainer

Management experience in a similar role

5 years sales and marketing experience

Experience marketing in key markets: Asia, Far East and Europe and The Americas

Experience in managing existing and developing new agent accounts

Foreign Languages: English plus minimum B2 level in 2 other languages desired

Duties and responsibilities

Understand and promote the Vision of IH Belfast in everything we do:

Academic

Design and supervise the implementation of all English teaching programmes

Manage and develop the EFL, Teacher Training and Marketing Departments

Help and advise in the development of new products and courses

Develop strategies for turning academic excellence and student experience into referrals and sales

Enhance student experience

Oversee academic admin. Along with assistant Director of Studies if required

Tutor on CELTA courses

Control the budgets for all teaching materials, marketing and teacher training

Recruit staff as and when necessary and help new staff settle in

Oversee management of group and summer teenage programmes

Organise students and teachers' timetables 

Organise substitutions when necessary

Test and place new students

First day academic induction for new students

Follow long term student progress

Ensure that students are happy and learning well, deal with their problems and be available for them to talk to

Monitor teaching standards, organise teachers' meetings and in-service training, observe classes, organize peer observations, development workshops, etc.)

Teach as and when necessary

 

Business Development

Extensive travel to foreign & domestic markets with the intention of setting up, or maintaining, partnerships with Educational Consultants & Travel Agents.

Agent entertaining in Belfast/fam trips

Liaising with agents and setting up agent agreements

Sending quotes contracts and course programmes to agents/ groups
attracting business

Monitoring enrolments by agents and IH Belfast website – running reports

Brochures and pricelists update

Attend fairs, exhibitions & workshops representing IH Belfast

Contribute towards the creation of suitable marketing materials & in-house best practice manuals for the Sales Department. 

Account Manager for all market territories

Agent contact person and setting up agent agreements

Sending quotes contracts and course programmes to agents/ groups
attracting business

Launching promotions

Attend fairs, exhibitions & workshops representing Ih Belfast

Visit companies with the intention of developing a training programme for the employees on all services and products.

Preparation of group quotes for partners, ensuring that all quotes are followed up.

Contribute towards the creation of suitable marketing materials & in-house best practice manuals for the Sales Department. 

 

Initial EFL Qualification Required: 
CELTA, or
Trinity TESOL, or
other equivalent qualification
Higher EFL Qualification Required: 
DELTA, or
other equivalent qualification
Additional Skills Preferred: 
3 languages desirable
