The school was established in 1993 and has a very solid reputation in the local community. We offer courses of English to adults, teenagers, young and very young learners as well as business clients. The school is an authorized Cambridge English Examination Centre and specialises in preparation courses for Cambridge Main Suite and Young Learner exams with an impeccable reputation for success. The school also runs a highly successful bilingual kindergarten in a separate building in Bielsko-Biala and a bilingual primary school in the same building.
As ADoS you will be working closely with the DoS to ensure the smooth running of the school. Your main responsibilities will include: day to day teacher support, coordination and timetabling of business classes, assisting the DoS in class timetabling, induction processes, giving seminars and workshops; observing teachers and giving feedback; standby coordination; emergency lesson and standby cover; ensuring teachers’ admin duties are being met, overseeing the social program, YL reward system and the School resources.
The workload will include: 15 real hours of teaching and 12 of admin per week.
The working week is from Monday to Friday. In-school group teaching is mostly from 15.30 to 20.30 while 1-2-1’s and in-company classes may be timetabled in the mornings, afternoons or evenings. The teaching load will include a mixture of levels and age groups including young learners, teenagers and adults and the timetable may involve split shifts. However, teachers are not required to teach outside a 12-hour band during the day. The contract may also include teaching primary school students (45 mins a day). Weekly one hour training sessions and teacher meetings are part of the contract.
As an ADoS you will be assisting the DoS in the preparation and running of a 3-day induction (27-30 September 2017) for teachers new to the school.
- CELTA, Trinity CertTESOL, or equivalent
- a degree
- at least 3 years’ experience of teaching EFL in an approved environment
- excellent organisation, communication and people skills
- full mastery of English across all 4 skills to CEFR C2/IELTS band 9
- Experience in a similar position, e.g. a senior teacher or coordinator roles
- DELTA or Trinity DipTESOL
- YL Extension to CELTA or IH Certificate in Teaching Young Learners and Teenagers and experience in teaching YLs
Between 4000 and 4300 PLN per month depending on qualifications and experience.
- 20 working days of paid holidays (including 2 weeks at Christmas and 2 weeks winter break);
- 10 free survival Polish lessons;
- a free ski pass or cash equivalent of 300 PLN
The school will pay 100% of the cost of emergency consultations with general doctors and specialists, emergency hospital treatment, and treatment for illnesses and injuries which occur in Poland. The school also pays 50% of the cost of prescriptions and emergency dental treatment. (Please note: this does not apply to self-employed teachers)
Teachers may be given the chance to do a two-week intensive IHCYLT (IH Certificate in Teaching Young Learners and Teenagers) course with the school in September 2018, which will be free for returning teachers on successful appraisal and completion of full-time employment contract. 50% of the course fee will be charged to teachers who only complete a one year contract.
Teachers teaching the youngest age groups will be given the opportunity to complete an online phonics course (Jolly Phonics) free of charge.
The school assists in finding accommodation and teachers are responsible for the monthly rental bills and all utilities. It is usual for tenants to pay 1 month's rent as a deposit upon signing the rental agreement.
