NOT a teaching role. Only open to EU nationals.
This internship could be suitable for people interested in working in the field of international relations, or indeed any international business area. This is NOT a teaching position, even though it might be suitable for trainee teachers. Several of our ex-chattisters have gone on to become teachers.
It is essential that ‘chattisters’ (interns) have a ‘can do’ attitude and view this position as a job rather than a holiday! The successful applicant(s) must be out-going, friendly, reliable and have plenty of energy, and also be professional at all times.
As the chattisters will spend a considerable amount of time together, it is vital that they have an easy-going personality and are affable.
It is not necessary to be able to speak Italian, but we can provide Italian lessons. It is also not essential that the applicant is mother-tongue English, although they must have a C1/C2 (proficiency) level of the language. Applications must be from within the European Union, and unless you have residency in the UK, you must have completed full-time education within the previous 12 months - this is in accordance with Italian legislation.
International House Victoria is private, independent language school in Italy (est. 1997). In 2012 we opened a Language Lounge where our students can come to join small groups, divided by language level, and have a conversation. A small team of chattisters are responsible for the day-to-day management of this service.
In addition to working in the Language Lounge, the chattisters are responsible for researching and preparing material for future sessions, developing our social network sites, etc. They are also required to work on a rota system in our multi-media lab.
The Language Lounge service is open for eight hours-a-day, and chattisters will be required to work 5 days per week, including Saturdays.
We hope that the chattisters will be able to help us to develop the concept further.
In addition to the Language Lounge, the chattisters will of course have the opportunity to see the workings of an Italian company from the inside.
We are based in the beautiful region of Le Marche. With two schools (Ancona and Jesi), this internship will be located in the Medieval market town of Jesi. We are approximately 30-minutes away from the regional capital of Ancona on the Adriatic coast (ferry port to Greece and Croatia). The mainline train line runs through Jesi between Rome and Ancona. Ryanair flights regularly to Ancona.
In addition to accommodation, interns are given €350 per month towards the cost of living.
Initial interviews will be by phone or skype.
