International House Riga is looking for a new Director of Studies to manage and develop our team of dedicated teachers.

International House Riga has more than 20 full- and part-time teachers of English plus around 10 other language teachers as well as ADoS(s) and Senior Teachers.

The Director of Studies is responsible for maintaining academic excellence at the school through training and observations. The ideal candidate will be able to act as the main tutor for IH courses such as the IHCYLT and the IHVYL.

The Director of Studies is also responsible for monitoring and updating the school's syllabus academic programmes and for overseeing the work of others on the academic management team.

Here at IH Riga we pride ourselves on being able to offer our students more than just lessons and thus the Director of Studies needs to be proactive in developing our social and extra-curricular activities.

Additional duties include teaching up to 12 academic hours per week (including 1-2-1s and ESP), providing last-minute cover, liaising with publishers, dealing with complaints from students/parents and making sure that IH Riga remains at the heart of IHWO.

Initial EFL Qualification Required: 
CELTA, or
Trinity TESOL, or
IH Certificate, or
other equivalent qualification
Higher EFL Qualification Required: 
DELTA, or
MA TESOL, or
Trinity Diploma
or other equivalent qualification
Additional Skills Preferred: 
The majority of our students are Young Learners so the ideal candidate will have experience in working with YLs and training others to do so.

Laptops and projectors are also available for use in class and WiFi is available throughout the school. Riga is a historic trade port boasting unique early 20th Century architecture. There are excellent over-land transport links to the other Baltic states, sea lanes to Scandinavia and a wealth of direct budget flights to major European cities.
