This is a great opportunity for  those who are  interested in working with young learners  and wish to develop professionally in the EFL world in a well-established and supportive school, whilst immersing themselves in authentic Polish culture amidst the backdrop of a beautiful mountainous region.

Details of Position

International House Bielsko was established in 1993 and has a very solid reputation in the local community. Since 2013  the school has been running a  Bilingual Primary School   ‘Primary Steps”  with 70 children 7-12  year olds.   

Alongside the Polish Curriculum, the school provides intensive English classes for all children. We also run a very successful STEM program, which teaches integrated Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics through the medium of English. In addition, the school’s Forest School program provides opportunities for children in years 1-3 to further develop their English skills through outdoor activities in a local woodland setting. At present, around 18% of our children have native, or near native proficiency in English.

The workload will include: 19,5 real hours of teaching and 10 hours of admin per week. 

As the Primary School English Language Coordinator, your main teaching responsibility will be in delivering the STEM program to all classes. You will also be responsible for:

-  maintaining high standards of English, appropriate teaching and methodology;
-  implementing and developing the STEM program whilst working closely with the Polish Coordinator;
-  planning and running monthly Forest School sessions whilst working closely with the Polish Coordinator;
-  supporting primary school EFL teachers teaching intensive English; supporting bilingual students;

-  carrying out formal and informal observations of primary school EFL teachers;
-  dividing students into appropriate English language level groups;    
-  monitoring students’ progress on a regular basis;
-  ensuring proper organization, curriculum and lesson planning;
-  maintaining positive attitudes and involvement with parents, staff and students at all times.

The school will pay 100% of the cost of emergency consultations with general doctors and specialists, emergency hospital treatment, and treatment for illnesses and injuries which occur in Poland.  The school also pays 50% of the cost of prescriptions and emergency dental treatment (please note this doesn’t apply to self-employed teachers).

The school assists in finding accommodation and teachers are responsible for the monthly rental bills and all utilities.  It is usual for tenants to pay 1 month's rent as a deposit upon signing the rental agreement.

The school is located in Bielsko-Biala, in the south of Poland near modern ski areas in the beautiful Beskidy mountains. The location is ideal for teachers who are interested in skiing, snowboarding, hiking, sailing and horse riding, as well as those who wish to travel around Europe as there are connections to Prague, Berlin, Budapest to name just a few.

Bielsko–Biala offers a low cost of living, friendly people and the opportunity to experience real Polish life. There are also all of the amenities you would expect (gyms, cinemas, restaurants, bars, jazz clubs, swimming pools, bowling and go-karting centre, tennis courts, ropes courses, shopping centres & supermarkets (including Tesco),etc. Krakow is around 1,5 hours away and Warsaw is around 4 hours away.

​The school offers Polish lessions on survival level and a free ski pass  to the value of 300 PLN which can be exchanged by non-skiers into cash.

Holiday Pay Details:

Accommodation Details: 
The school assists newly recruited teachers in finding accommodation. However, rental contracts are signed directly between teachers and landlords.

The approximate cost of the accommodation (excluding bills) is approx. 700-1000 PLN per person in shared flats and approx. 1,200 - 1,500 PLN for single accommodation.
The school is located in the south of Poland, two hours from Cracow and very close to both Chech and Slovak borders in the picturesque area of the Beskidy Mountains. It is ideal for hiking, mountain cycling and winter sports. The location is also very convenient for those who wish to travel around central Europe - to Prague, Vienna, Budapest or Berlin.
