Job Description: 

We are looking for an experienced teacher of English to join our team. We will only consider applicants with two years' post-qualification experience teaching adult classes. Full mastery of English across all 4 skills to CEFR C2/IELTS band 9 required. EU passport holders only can be considered for this post. Preference will be given to those who have taught IELTS.

The primary purpose of this post is to help students learn English in a manner corresponding  to IHA’s  mission statement:  ‘We are committed to giving our customers the best possible experience of living and learning in Scotland.’ 

The main responsibilities of the post are to:

  • prepare lessons thoroughly and create a weekly lesson plan with your co-teacher for each class 
  • follow the course syllabus for each class taught
  • keep accurate records of work and attendance records
  • liaise with fellow teachers to ensure accurate handovers and discuss students’ progress
  • set and mark homework assignments, keeping appropriate records of each student’s progress
  • set, mark and record progress tests, including mid and end-of-term tests
  • carry out progress tutorials with students, as required by DOS/ADOS
  • take part in the social activities programme
  • attend staff development sessions and staff meetings
  • participate in the school’s professional development process
Initial EFL Qualification Required: 
CELTA, or
