Two years post-EFL qualification experience required to start ASAP
As a full-time teacher with IH Querétaro, you will be responsible for teaching business and general English courses to adult professionals from local, national, and international companies. We require all teachers to submit a weekly lesson plan for each class, carry out and mark exams for each course, and upload attendance and marks on a timely basis. In addition to teaching, you may also be trained as a Cambridge speaking examiner and invigilator, and pending approval by Cambridge, you may become a member of the IH Querétaro team that carries out the Cambridge speaking exams for the majority of schools in the central region of Mexico every spring. Full-time teachers may also be required to carry out speaking evaluations of new students for the general and business English courses, and give demonstration classes for potential client companies.
Teachers can expect to work a maximum of 25 hours per week. Teachers should expect to travel by public transportation around the city for many of their classes, although we do make every effort to organize carpooling for teachers. Scheduling of teachers and their classes is quite constant despite the occasional modification in order to meet the needs of our corporate clients.
Most lessons take place early in the morning (7:00-9:00 a.m.) and in the early evening (5:00-8:00 p.m.), and there can be early afternoon lessons as well. The majority of the classes are held at the companies, but we have increasing numbers of classes and exam preparation courses (e.g., IELTS, FCE, CAE, CPE) at the school. Exam preparation courses typically take place Saturday morning (9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.) but may also be offered at other times during the week.
Survival Spanish language classes are provided free of charge. Duration and intensity of these courses will be determined based on the teachers’ Spanish language capacity upon arrival in Querétaro, and on Spanish teacher availability. Upon completion of the first six months of the contract, the teacher will be paid a bonus equal to a half of their monthly gross salarly in pesos, and upon completion of the full-year contract, the teacher will also be paid a bonus equal to a half of their monthly gross salary in pesos. Social security (public healthcare) is also paid for by IH for all full-time teachers.
